Medina Community Police Academy Alumni Association General Meeting, Thursday, May 27, 2004, 7:00 P.M.
Welcome and Meeting called to order 7:10 P.M.
Bill Roser welcomed everyone, called the meeting to order. There were 15 members present and 2 guests.
General Meeting minutes were tabled and copies on hand.
Bill Cohen reported on Treasurer’s Report. We have $2,285.28 in the account.
Committee Reports
Bill Roser introduced Dan Hostettler from the Medina County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Hostettler talked about the upcoming event of the Great Ohio Bike Adventure (GOBA). This event will take place at the Fairgrounds Saturday, June 19th from 10:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. There is to be a Bike Parade starting at 6:30 p.m. and will finish with the music of the Blue Moon Express at the Square. Jerry Roth past around sign up sheets for the event, there are a few spots that need to be covered. Jerry also explained what our duties are. Very easy. Just talk about Medina and all it has to offer.
Barb and Rex Demczyk reported on the Fireworks Saturday, July 3. They are in need of 8 people to help at this event. If you are interested please contact Barb or Rex.
Annual MCPAAA Picnic: This is to be held Sunday, June 27, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Bob Acord is the Chairperson. If you would like more information regarding this please feel free to contact him. Flyers will be sent by e-mail and USPS. Rumor has it there is to be a canoe race.
Web page/Newsletter Kellie reported on the Web page. Updates are coming. Still working on the bugs with the volunteer hour sign in page. But coming along. The new directory will be completed for the June meeting and passed out. Anyone who would like a copy sent to them please contact Kellie. They can be sent to you by e-mail or by USPS.
Cops ‘n Kids, is Saturday, August 21 at the Medina Meadows and the Home has started working in this years festivities already.
Refreshments: Linda Nagy thanked Bill Roser and Barb & Rex for refreshments. They were great. We had sandwiches, which worked out well. A lot of the members didn’t have dinner yet so this worked out well for us hunger ones. There will be no need for anyone to bring refreshments due to the picnic. Anyone who is interested in signing up for refreshments in July please let her know.
Class #5 Committee. There was a conference after the General Meeting regarding the upcoming class in January. The committee has started to work out a schedule and has already started to plan some of the classes.
Satellite Station: The station can now issue bicycle licenses. Either Lenny Conetsco or Bill Roser can ex plain the registration procedure to those who have taken the satellite training. which is now know as 25B. There are opportunities open for anyone would like to man the station. Sign up sheets are at the PD., or please contact Lenny Conetsco.
New Business
By-law Vote: Pam Miller read the By-law revisions to the members and copies were passed out at the last two meeting. With all changes and corrections made Kellie Conetsco made a motion for the new By-laws to be accepted. Bob Acord seconded the motion. Motion passed with all in favor.
Elections for 2004-2005 Officers and Board Members. Nominating Committee of Judy Chase, Marilyn Sobotincic and John Zimmerman turned in a slate of the following members. With no other nominees from the floor the slate stands.
President: Bill Roser Vice President: Pam Miller Treasurer: Bill Cohen Secretary: Karen Whitaker
Board Members: Doug McClure, Bob Acord and Marilyn Sobotincic.
A motion was made by Rex Demczyk to accept the slate of officers and board members. Motion was seconded by Don Stevic. Motion carried, all in favor.
