No. We do not recommend bringing live animals to City parks, other than dogs and cats.
Can I put up a tent for our event in the park?
Before any stakes can be pounded into the ground a parks employee will need to make sure there are no utilities in the area where you want to place the tent. Please bring this to the attention of the person booking your event so that they can make arrangements to have a park employee meet with you.
Can we plant trees in City parks as a project for our organization?
Before any plans for planting trees can take place the Parks Director and City Arborist would need to review the request and give their approval.
Why are the parks closed during the winter months?
Effective 2010, City parks have remained open throughout the winter – weather permitting. In order to prevent vehicles from getting stuck in the snow and accidents in the parks it is necessary to close the gates occasionally at some parks during inclement weather. The roads in the parks are plowed by park employees, not the street department. The parks department hires seasonal laborers to help maintain the parks during the summer months. This help is gone at the end of September and the few permanent employees in the Parks Department need to work on winterizing the parks and facilities as well as projects for the upcoming season.
How can I apply for a seasonal position in the Parks Department?
Civil Service Applications can be picked up at any time at the Parks Office at the Medina Community Recreation Center. Please call ahead and an application will be left at the Front Desk for you. Click
here for a Civil Service Application. An Employee Availability Sheet also needs to be submitted with your application. Click
