Welcome to the City of Medina's Forestry Department, a proud recipient of the Tree City USA award for the past 29 years. We are dedicated to preserving and maintaining our urban forest through proper arboriculture practices. Our street trees help save energy, reduce storm water run off, improve air quality, add property value, enhance our communities growth, and beautify our City.
The Forestry Department is under the direction of the Park's Director, Tim Swanson and is comprised of an arborist, Jansen Wehrley, a part-time laborer, and one seasonal laborer.
The City Arborist is required to achieve and retain:
- certified Arborist status through the International Society of Arboriculture.
- maintain up to date CPR and First Aid cards.
- perform an aerial lift rescue.
- perform a climbing rescue.
- maintain up to date ACRT electrical hazard training certification.
- participate in an interdepartmental safety program
- have the opportunity to attend arboriculture seminars.
We will be pruning in Zone 3 in 2012. For a map of the city to see what zone you are in click here.
