Detective Kirk Vozar

I am a 1986 graduate of Highland High School. I grew up in Granger Township and have lived my entire life in Medina County. After graduating from Highland High School, I joined the United States Air National Guard and was a Security Police Officer with the 179th Tactical Airlift Group of Mansfield Lahm Air Base for seven years. I also attended the University of Akron and obtained an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. 

I joined the Medina Police Department in December of 1989 and was a member of the uniformed patrol division for eight years. During my time in the Patrol Division, I became a Field Training Officer, as well as serving for a time as Hostage/Crisis Negotiator for our Emergency Services Unit. I then became the City’s first Business Liaison Officer and worked with the Business Sector for a little over one year before going into the Detective Bureau. I became a Detective in August of 1998 and am still in the Detective Bureau, where I enjoy doing investigative work.

I am married and have three sons. In my off duty time, I enjoy spending time with my family, as well as watching and participating in sports, motorcycle riding, and Scuba Diving.

Detective Amy Kerr

I grew up in Elyria, OH and graduated from Elyria High School in 1985.  I attended Ashland College and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and Minored in Criminal Justice. 

After graduation, I became a Licensed Social Worker and worked for Richland County Children Services (Mansfield, OH) and Medina County Job & Family Services as an Intake and Ongoing Social Worker.

In 1994 I joined the Medina Police Department as a patrol officer. I became a detective in the fall of 2010 and was assigned to the Special Operations Division. I am currently assigned to the Detective Bureau and the Domestic Violence Investigation Team "Baker One Project".

I also serve as a School Resource Officer for the elementary schools as well as serve as lead investigator on sexual assault cases involving juveniles. For the majority of my career, I have monitored Missing Persons cases for the department. I am also a Crime Scene Tech and assist in evidence gathering at crime scenes.

I have an eight year old daughter and a dog named Henry.

Detective Patrick Sloan

I graduated from the University of Dayton and have been a Medina police officer since 2003. While assigned to the Patrol Division, I served as a field training officer as well as a member of the Medina County SWAT team. In October of 2009 I was assigned to the Special Operations Division as a detective.

I have attended advanced training in homicide investigation and serve as a crime scene evidence technician. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family.

Detective Mary E Gross

I was hired on the department July 21, 1997 after serving two years in the United States Air Force after graduation. During my military career I was stationed at Misawa AB Japan as a Telecommunication Specialist.

I began my career in law enforcement working for the Orrville Police Department in Wayne County, Ohio as a dispatcher from Jan 1992 until July 1997. I attended the Medina County Career Center Police Academy while working full time. After graduation and certification I was hired by the Medina Police Department.

After a year on road patrol I was assigned as a School Resource Officer (S.R.O.) for the middle schools, elementary schools, & St. Francis from 1998 until 2003. During that time I was certified as a D.A.R.E. Officer and filled that role from 1999 until 2004.

Re-assigned back to road patrol from 2003 until 2011. During that time became certified as a Hostage Negotiator. My dream has always been to become a detective and focused my training towards that goal. I have undergone specialized training in evidence collection, interview & interrogation, sex crimes investigation, death scene investigation to include infant/child death investigation, child abuse and neglect.

I am currently assigned to the Detective Bureau and the Domestic Violence Investigation Team "Baker One Project".

I live in Medina County with my husband, David. I have one Daughter with two beautiful grandsons.
