In 2009, the city was named as a finalist by Team NEO's Economic Impact Awards in the category of business expansion. The City of Medina is the county seat of Medina County, one of the fastest growing counties in the State of Ohio. Since 1990 the County's population has grown by 38.4%, placing it as the 4th fastest growing county in Ohio. In addition to its population growth, Medina County businesses have created more jobs as a percent of current employment than any other northeast Ohio county (5.5%) from the first quarter of 2004 to the first quarter of 2006.
