INCOME TAX

Who must file an income tax form?

All residents of the City of Medina are required to file an income tax form with Central Collection Agency.

Effective January 1, 2004, the tax rate is 1.25%.

If you are a resident of the City of Medina working in the city and the city tax is withheld by your employer, you must file each year to demonstrate your tax has been paid.

If you are a resident of the City of Medina, but work outside the city, you will have to pay the tax; however, a credit is offered so that if you pay a municipal income tax at your place of employment, your tax rate for the City of Medina is 1.0625%.

If you are a retired resident of the City of Medina and receive only Social Security, a state pension, interest, royalties or annuity income, you will not owe any tax, but you will have to file a return.

How is an income tax payment made?

Payments can be made in one of two ways:

1. Have your employer withhold from your paycheck, or

2. Make quarterly payments

YES, YOU MUST FILE

If you work in the City of Medina and tax is not withheld by your employer

If you are a resident of the city and at least 16 years of age

NO, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FILE

If you are neither a resident of the City of Medina nor work in the city

If you are a non-resident of the City of Medina, but work in the city and taxes are withheld by your City of Medina employer

If you have not reached the age of 16 by December 31st of the tax year

The filing deadline for city of Medina income tax is April 15. You may obtain filing forms by calling Central Collection Agency, CCA, at 1-800-223-6317 or going to their website at www.ccatax.ci.cleveland.oh.us. The Central Collection Agency is located at 1701 Lakeside Avenue, Cleveland Ohio 44114.
