Medina, beautiful tree-lined street

The City of Medina has been a proud recipient of the Tree City USA award for the past 34 years. Medina is known for it's beauty and one aspect of this appeal are the wonderful selection, placement, and management of our trees. As the trees add to the appearence to our community they also add to the value of our homes and properties, reduce storm water run off, control erotion and improve the air quality.

The Forestry Department is under the direction of Jansen Wehrley, Parks & Recreation Director, and the City Arborist.  This department also employs a part-time laborer, and two seasonal laborers.

The City Arborist is required to achieve and retain:

  • certified Arborist status through the International Society of Arboriculture.
  • maintain up to date CPR and First Aid cards.
  • perform an aerial lift rescue.
  • perform a climbing rescue.
  • maintain up to date ACRT electrical hazard training certification.
  • participate in an interdepartmental safety program
  • have the opportunity to attend arboriculture seminars.
