Medina Civil Service Commission announces an open, competitive examination to create an eligible list for the following classification to be held Thursday, July 25, 2019.

Starting Salary:          $12.66/hour

                                                           

Application information for this examination may be obtained at the Medina Civil Service office, 132 North Elmwood Avenue, Medina, on July 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 24, 2019, between 8am and 4pm ONLY. Application deadline is 4pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2019. Note: Office is closed July 22 and July 23. No applications are collected when office is closed. Nature of Work: Under the guidance and direction of the Cafeteria Manager, help establish and carry out the school lunch program. This includes responsibilities in the areas of preparation, serving, and clean-up operations in the lunchroom.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. One or two years of related experience preferred. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must possess a pleasing personality, be able to work well with others, and be neat in personal appearance. Must be willing to learn. Good organizational and problem solving skills.
Nature of Examination: Written test is weighted at 100% and will test for knowledge of food preparation, handling of food, measurements, and meaning of words used in food service. All test results and scores are subject to public record laws.
Veterans Preference: Any veteran of the U. S. Armed Forces who has been honorably discharged and who PASSES the test may receive an additional credit provided proof of honorable discharge (DD-214) is presented and verified prior to the date of the examination.
Probation: All persons appointed to permanent positions are subject to a probationary period of 120 days worked. The probationary period is an essential part of the examination process used for the effective adjustment of the employee and elimination of any probationer whose performance fails to meet required work standards.
Accommodation: An applicant can request reasonable accommodation to participate in the applicant/examination process by completing and submitting an EXAMINATION ACCOMMODATION REQUEST form.
