School Cafeteria Server

Medina Civil Service Commission announces an open, competitive examination on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 to create an eligible list for the following classification:

CAFETERIA SERVER            MEDINA CITY SCHOOLS                   

Starting Salary: $10.92/hr.

NATURE OF WORK

Under the guidance and direction of the Cafeteria Manager, serves school lunches and assist with daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment. This includes responsibilities in the area of setting up the serving line, serving food, breaking down the serving line, and cleaning up the service area.

QUALIFICATIONS   High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must possess a pleasing personality and able to work with diverse personalities. Must be neat in personal appearance and willing to learn.

NATURE OF EXAMINATION     Written test is weighted at 100% and will test for knowledge of food service, safe handling of food, and meaning of words relating to food, and weights and measurement. Passing grade is 70% or above. All test results and scores are subject to public record laws.

VETERAN PREFERENCE     Any veteran of the U. S. Armed Forces who has been honorably discharged and who passes this test may receive an additional credit, provided proof of honorable discharge (DD-214) is presented and verified prior to the date of the examination.

PROBATION     All persons appointed to permanent positions are subject to a probationary period of 120 days worked. The probationary period is an essential part of the examination process used for the effective adjustment of the employee and the elimination of any probationer whose performance fails to meet the required standards of work.
