School Mechanic

 MECHANIC for Medina City Schools                                                             

 Salary:    $19.27-$21.84/hr.  Plus Benefits

NATURE OF WORK:  Under guidance and direction, help to establish and carry out a current and preventive maintenance program. Responsible for bus garage and any other pertinent duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  High school diploma or equivalent; able to understand and follow oral and written instructions; thorough knowledge and experience in auto/bus/truck repair work; care and use of tools; able to accept responsibility; physical and mental ability to perform the essential functions of the job.  Possession of or the ability to obtain an Ohio Class B Commercial Drivers license with SP endorsement required. One to two years related experience

NATURE OF EXAMINATION:  The written test is weighted at 100% and will test for mechanical knowledge, safe work practices, mathematical skills, and employee relations.  A passing grade is 70% or above.

VETERANS PREFERENCE: Any person who has completed service in the uniformed services and who has been honorably discharged from the uniformed services or transferred to the reserve with evidence of satisfactory service, may file a certificate of service or honorable discharge to receive an additional five points credit, to be added to the earned passing grade resulting from the examination. 

PROBATION: All persons appointed to permanent positions are subject to a probationary period of 120 days worked.  The probationary period is an essential part of the examination process used for the effective adjustment of the employee and the elimination of any probationer whose performance fails to meet the required standards of work.

Employment is contingent on the passage of a drug/ alcohol test and a background check through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation through fingerprint records.
