The Medina Civil Service Commission announces an open, competitive examination on Monday, August 8, 2022 for the following classification:

MEDINA CITY SCHOOLS

                                                                      Salary:          $21.76-$22.99

Resumes may be submitted as a supplement, but a COMPLETED EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION IS REQUIRED.

 

NATURE OF WORK:  To assist mechanics with routine and preventative maintenance. General shop duties to include but not limited to cleaning and washing vehicles, oil, lube and filters, and minor repairs.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  High school diploma or equivalent; able to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical and mental ability to perform the essential functions of the job.  Continuing possession of an Ohio Commercial Driver’s license required. Minimum of one year related experience.

 

NATURE OF EXAMINATION:  The written test is weighted at 100% and will test for mechanical knowledge, safe work practices, mathematical skills, and employee relations.  A passing grade is 70% or above.

 

VETERANS PREFERENCE: Any person who has completed service in the uniformed services and who has been honorably discharged from the uniformed services or transferred to the reserve with evidence of satisfactory service, may file a certificate of service or honorable discharge to receive an additional five points of credit, to be added to the earned passing grade resulting from the examination. 

 

PROBATION: All persons appointed to permanent positions are subject to a probationary period of 120 days worked.  The probationary period is an essential part of the examination process used for the effective adjustment of the employee and the elimination of any probationer whose performance fails to meet the required standards of work.

 

ACCOMMODATION:  An applicant may request reasonable accommodation to participate in the application/examination process by completing and submitting an EXAMINATION ACCOMMODATION REQUEST form.

 

Employment is contingent on the passage of a drug/ alcohol test and a background check through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation through fingerprint records.
