Medina boasts an outstanding school system that ranks excellent with distinction in the Ohio Department of Education's Annual Report Card. Medina City School District encompasses 52 square miles, including the City of Medina, Medina and Montville Townships and a portion of Lafayette Township. Enrollment is approximately 7,000. There are seven elementary schools: Ella Canavan, Garfield, Heritage, H.G. Blake, Sidney Fenn, Eliza Northrop, and Ralph E. Waite. There are two middle schools: A.I. Root and Claggett and Medina High School.

Within the city's boundaries, two excellent school systems offer academic and technology training that prepares young people for both college and the workforce: Buckey Local Schools and the Medina County Career Center.

St. Francis Xavier and Medina Christian Academy offer private schooling for elementary and junior high student.
