EMS - Emergency Medical Services

Medina Life Support Team (LST) is the primary EMS provider for the City of Medina. By dialing 9-1-1, the closest available paramedic team is dispatched to your emergency. The 9-1-1 communications center is staffed with EMD-certified (Emergency Medical Dispatch) personnel who, through a series of questions and using specially designed software, will determine the most appropriate response to your emergency. Medina's police officers and firefighters also may respond to your medical emergency and are trained and equipped to provide immediate life-saving treatment.

Paramedic squads are based at three locations, Medina Fire Station 1 (Reagan Parkway), Medina Hospital, and Montville Safety Service Center (Montville Township), and operate 24 hours every day.

Medina Life Support Team paramedics operate under the guidance of the Medical Director and the Cleveland Clinic Emergency Services Institute using the latest EMT protocols and technology. Medics have the ability to connect directly to Cleveland Clinic resources, such as cardiology and Critical Care Transport, when dealing with cardiac emergencies and expediting life-saving treatment for these patients.

LST is jointly funded through a property tax levy and reimbursements by insurance.

Since 1976 the Medina Life Support Team has provided outstanding pre-hospital emergency care and received awards and recognition for exceptional service.

In 2015, LST received recognition from the American Heart Association as meeting the Mission Lifeline Performance Achievement Silver standard as a high-functioning and high-quality STEMI system (rapid identification and intervention of life threatening cardiac cases), one of only 431 nationally.
