Hello Everyone! I am your new correspondent for the "Communications Corner" part of your newletter. So....i guess the best way for us to get acquainted is to introduce some of us to you: Stephanie Oiler: Steph grew up in Hinckley and graduated from Highland High School in 1991. She attended Tri-C, taking pre-nursing classes and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree. She's been married to Brian,Strongsville police officer, for 6 years and has a 3 year old daughter, Madison, and is expecting a second child, Eric in early (hopefully) July. Steph has been working here for nearly 5 years and still enjoys her job!!! Connie Stafinski: Connie has been dispatching for us since 1999. Her previous experience is in accounts receivable and purchasing as an office manager. She is the very proud mother of two: Dawn is a Wadsworth police officer and Jamie is in sports medicine rehab at the Crystal Clinic in Akron. She has a wonderful grandson Jacob, who will be 10 in August. Connie also enjoys her job!!
Sandy Forcier: Sandy was previously a dispatcher at the Cleveland Metropolitan Housing Authority. She eventually got tired of driving 50 miles one way, so she decided to take a job a little closer to home. She has a wonderful husband, Dave, and has 4 kids Jen, Shawn, Ryan and Rebecca. Sandy says that her job is challenging and there is always something new to learn. Sandy loves her job!!!
Julie Douglass: One of our newest additions, Julie recently graduated from OSU, and worked in the Student Security office while she attended school. Sometime during her studies, she heard her calling, and decided that she needed to be in a police deparment. Lucky for us, she chose to become a dispatcher. Julie is still single, looking for her Prince, and refuses to kiss any frogs. Julie really likes her job!!
Cheryl Kollar: Cheryl has been here for almost 17 years. She started off as a dispatcher, and is now our Records Supervisor. Cheryl has been happily married to Bill for 36 years and has 4 children: Dave, Joe, Angie and Chris. She is also the very proud gramma of 4: David, Jessie, Rachel and Cheyenne Marie was born earlier this month. Cheryl loves her job as a records clerk/people greeter!!!
Megan Kennedy: Megan has been dispatching for us part-time for over 6 years. She wears many hats-she is a water aerobics instructor at the Rec Center and also a busy, busy personal trainer. She is married to Bill, a photoga photographer for the Plain Dealer and has 2 bonus sons, David, 17 and Patrick, 15. Meg enjoys spending time with her 2 year old Golden, Jaz, gardening and she is an excellent cook. Megan loves her job!! Nancy Cifranic: Nancy has been here for just over 3 years. She has been dispatching for almost 14 years and has worked at several different agencies thru out her career. She was also an Emergency Medical Technician for Lafayette Twp. Fire Department for just over 6 years. She has 2 beautiful daughters, Mackenzy, 10 and Madison, 4. She finally met her Prince, Jason Winebrenner, a Pepper Pike police officer. (I did have to kiss a few frogs). Nancy really enjoys her job!!
Amy Clarkson-Eby: Amy has been dispatching here since May, 1996. She graduated from Cloverleaf/JVS in 1996, and was hired here directly out of high school. She has been married to Jeremy for 3 years and has a beautiful little girl, Olivia, who is the apple of her eye. Amy enjoys scrapbooking, shopping and spending time with her family. Amy loves her job!!
Becki Hoff: And last but not least, our Newbie!!! We are so glad to have Becki aboard. She has fit in very well and will make a fine dispatcher, thanks to the best training available. Becki has 2 fabulous daughters, Lauren, 9 and Emily, 3. Becki is in the process of looking for frogs to kiss and needs to find her Prince, because the last one stayed a frog. Becki is looking forward to retiring, and really loves her new job
As for the rest of us, I decided to save that for the next newsletter so I don't run out of things to write about. Sgt. Stollar has made a huge difference in the way we all feel about our jobs, and for this we have to say thanks. He has been instrumental in improving morale, getting us a new dispatch center (coming soon), making it clear to everyone that being a dispatcher THE link between the public and the help they need. In closing, I'll leave you with the words of a wise man: " Til next time America, take care of yourselves, and each other" -Jerry Springer |
